Seleukid Kings of Syria. Antiochos Epiphanes, child-king (129 BC). AR Drachm. Antioch. 4.16 gms. Diademed young boy's head right, rev. BA?I?E?? ANTIOXOY E?I?ANOY?, Tyche standing left, holding rudder and filleted cornucopiae, ? outer left, ? inner right field. SNG Spaer 2436. Rare. The child-ruler Antiochos Epiphanes was crowned by Kleopatra Thea after the death of Antiochos VII, but was deposed, though not killed, by Demetrios II. It is likely that Epiphanes was either Antiochos VIII or his half-brother Antiochos IX. Excellent portrait, well-centered. Extremely Fine.
