Scott, Sir Walter 1st Baronet (1771-1832). Scottish historical novelist, playwrite and port. Author of "Ivanhoe", "Rob Roy", The Lady of the Lake", and numerous other classics. Original oil painting on canvas by an unknown artist after the famous portrait by Raeburn. Unsigned, 15 ½" x 22". No date no place, attached to the original stretchers and in a later gilt frame. A well-executed nineteenth century painting showing the famous novelist in a half-length pose looking to the right. Save for a few minor defects and darkening with age, in very good condition.
