Potter, Helen Beatrix (1866-1943). English author, natural scientist, illustrator and conservationist best known for her children's books. Beloved author of "Tales of Peter Rabbit". ALS, 3 pages, 8vo. Castle Cottage, N. Ambleside. January 20, 1936. To Christopher and Phyllis Fleming. "I congratulate you heartily on the safe arrival of the little man…He has opened his eyes upon a cold world but babies don't seem to feel it; nor do lambs. Life comes and goes…" Signed "Beatrix Heelis," [her married name]. She wrote close to thirty books, and died at age 77, leaving most of her property to the National Trust.
