Brazil. João V (1706-1750). 20,000 Reis, 1726 M. Minas Gerais. 51.91 gms. Crowned Arms, value at left, row of rosettes at right, rev. Jerusalem Cross, "M" in each angle. Appears to be a contemporary counterfeit. Note the tail on the left side of "R" in "REX", the somewhat deformed "N"s in "IOANNES", the imprecise denticles, etc. Cf. Fr.33, KM 117, Gomes 38.03. Wheaten gold tone over old hairlines, once lightly polished. About Extremely Fine.
