Khurasan and western Central Asia. Samanid. Nasr II b. Ahmad (AH 301-331/914-943 AD). Gold Dinar, al-Muhammadiya, AH 327. 3.7 gms. Citing Caliph al-Radi billah. Crescent and pellet above central obverse legend. Nishapur and Herat are the two mints most commonly found for Dinars. After the Samanid advance into the Iranian regions west of Nishapur during the AH 310-305s, dinars were produced at al-Muhammadiya, Jurjan, Amul, Qazwin and six other Iranian mints. A-1449. Scarce. Some flatness in margins as usual. Good Very Fine.
