Sicily. Syracuse. Second Democracy. AR Tetradrachm, ca. 415-405 BC. 17.42 gms. Obverse signed by Euainetos, reverse signed by Eumenes. Charioteer, holding kentron and reins, driving fast quadriga right, Nike flying left above holding wreath from which suspended is a tablet on which Euainetos' name is inscribed (only the EYA partially visible), rev. Arethusa head left wearing hoop earrings and necklace, four dolphins around, a few letters of Eumenes' name visible below. Tudeer 43 (V14/R25), SNG ANS 270, Boston MFA 408. Some porosity and light exfoliation in peripheries. NGC Choice Fine.
