Doble-Detroit Steam Motors Co. (DE), certificate for $10 shares, 19[18], #918, ornate border, vignette at top depicting allegorical figure on winged disc, black with gold underprint, printed by Geo A. Drake & Co, EF.

Abner Doble made a successful steam car but production failed due to the age old problem of motor manufacturers - under capitalisation. The General Engineering Company was formed in Detroit to build the GEC-Doble in 1916 but was soon put to death by wartime steel restrictions. The above company was then formed but Doble soon sold his rights to Amalgamated Motors and returned to California where he continued to build cars under his name until 1931.
