Roman Imperial. Hostilian (summer-November 251), as Caesar under Trajan Decius. AV Aureus. 4.13 gms. C VALENS (H)OSTIL MES QVINTVS NC; bare, draped head of Hostilian r., rev. P(R )INCIPI IVVENTVTIS Hostilian, in military attire, standing l. holding baton and transverse spear. Cf.RIC 183a. Very Rare. From an old find in India; the wear and crude appearance might suggest that it is a contemporary South Indian imitation, but the style is good overall and it is more likely that the coin has just seen much circulation in Asia. Has been plugged in the past at 10:00. Fine.
