Attica. Athens. Tetradrachm, 454-404 BC. AR Tetradrachm. 17.13 gms. Head of Athena r., wearing Attic helmet adorned with three olive leaves and palmette, round earring and necklace, rev. A?E, Owl standing facing, olive sprig and crescent behind. SNG Copenhagen 31, Kroll 8. Elements of Athena suggest that this may be a transitional type, though the owl is not. Evidence of obverse die rust. Full profile, aquiline and fine style. Extremely Fine.
