Private Order. Uncertain, but likely Danish or German. Early to mid-19th Century. Breast Badge. Silver, enamels and gilt. 82mm. Gilt rayed cross, the arms framed in a diagonal pattern with the inner outline in purple enamel, the body of the arms textured in a basket weave pattern. At the center is a large raised oval, elaborately framing a white enamel cross outlined in black. The central cross emblem is suggestive of the German Johanniter Order. Raised 'stud' circle back plate. Purple enamel loss, otherwise Extremely Fine and handsome.
