Greenland. Thule - Kap York. Complete Set of Tokens. Aluminum: 5, 25, 100 and 500 Øre, 1910; and 5 and 10 Kroner, 1932. Sieg 31-36, KM Tn5.1, 6-10. Set on the Hayes Peninsula in northwestern Greenland, the Thule (Gaanaaq) - Kap York Arctic Trading station was established in 1910 by Polar explorer Knud Rasmussen and his associate Peter Freuchen, who served as the trading station's first manager until 1920. Rasmussen named the village which sprung up around the Kap York trading station, Thule. Currently, the United States maintains an airbase there. At 750 miles north of the Arctic Circle, it is the USAF's northernmost base. The 1932 issues are Rare with only 500 struck of each. Extremely Fine-Brilliant Uncirculated. (6)
