Custer, George Armstrong. Five envelopes addressed to "Mrs. Genl GA Custer" in the General´s hand. Some with archivist´s notes in pencil indicating the date of the letters the envelopes once contained. These range from October 1868 to June 1869. Most just precede the Battle of Washita. The addresses are Monroe, Michigan, Gross Isle, Michigan and Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, documenting Libbie Custer´s travels to be with the General as much as possible. The right ends are torn away on two, but the Custer signatures are all complete. Please note that these are signed "Mrs. Genl GA Custer" rather than "Mrs. Genl Custer," (the way he addressed his later letters to her.) [5]
