Continental Currency. November 2, 1776. $3. Fr. #CC-48. PCGS Extremely Fine 45PPQ. Only sign of circulation is a light center fold and printing is clear and paper is brighter than most at this grade. Eagle and heron fighting. Signers were Mackubin (MacCubin) Zachariah and Daniel Carroll. // Daniel Carroll (1730-1796) was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He was a prominent member of one of America´s great colonial Catholic families, whose members included his younger brother Archbishop John Carroll, the first Catholic bishop in the United States and founder of Georgetown University; and their cousin Charles Carroll of Carrollton, who signed the Declaration of Independence. Daniel Carroll was a member of the Continental Congress from 1781-1783 and was appointed as a delegate to represent Maryland at the Constitutional Convention in 1787. He was later elected to the state senate of Maryland and served in the first United States Congress from 1789-1791. He was appointed by President George Washington to serve on a council to locate the District of Columbia and the Federal City. He was one of only five signers of both the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution. He was a friend and strong ally of George Washington and worked for a strong central government.
