Submarine Boat & Torpedo Co (VA), $100 shs, 1889, #62, fantastic vignette of screw-like submarine firing a torpedo at a rigged ship, brown with green underprint, sharp embossed seal of torpedo, uncanceled, folds, toned, good VF+. Submarines had been in development since the Civil War, but by 1889, only a few designs saw any practical use, and not until 1900 were the world´s navies making serious use of them. A scarce certificate!
