Hoosier Boy Mining and Tunnel Co, 1000 $1 shs, 1894, #990, mining scene, black and metallic gold, VF+. The year 1894 was an important one for the Cripple Creek District. In the spring, unionized miners went on strike, beginning a violent series of standoffs between workers and the mine owners´ hired guns. It is notable for being the only strike in American history in which state militia was mobilized to protect the workers rather than to break the strike.
