Phillip Best Brewing Co (WI), One $1000 share, Milwaukee, 1883, #317, signed by Frederick Pabst as president and issued to Charles Best Jr and signed by him on verso, Empire Brewery, South Side Brewery, black, contract stipulation handstamped at left, uncanceled, creases, about VF+. Joining his father-in-law Phillip Best´s brewery in 1863, steamboat captain Frederick Pabst (1836-1904) grew it into the nation´s largest, and it took his name in 1889. After a number of acquisitions, the company still exists, but the Milwaukee breweries were closed in 1996.
