United States Loan-Office (CT), $331.30, March 11, 1793, #7, issued to Ebenezer Mosely of Hampton, signed by Wm Imlay as commissioner, vignette of American eagle in oval with ram´s head above, botanical border, scalloped left security edge, broad right margin, age-toning, light fold wear, some closed tear at left edge, but in all VF. Very similar to the Loan-Office certifcates printed by Bailey that were the first government securities to be traded on the New York Stock Exchange when it was founded in 1792. The "Imlay" bonds were issued to cover state debt in excess of the authorized $1.6 million assigned by the State to be vaild certifcates of the state debt. Only 150 were issued, and many of the survivors are in poor condition.
