All examples of the thick bar surcharge emanate from the cover (11 June 1886) originally registered from W.H. Porter in Dominica to A. Churchill (Emerson) in Essex. Nabarro noted that the thick bar surcharged stamps were line perforated whereas the thin bar surcharged stamps were comb perforated.
