James II, Half-Guinea, 3.90g., 1687, laureate bust facing left, iacobvs.ii. dei.gratia, rev.inverted die axis, crowned cruciform shields, crowns with frosted inner rings, sceptres in angles, three strings to Irish harp, date either side of crown above English shield, .mag. br.fra. et.hib rex., edge, diagonally milled (MCE 134; S.3404), slightly double struck especially in legends with associated die filling and die flaws, with full mint proof-like brilliance, a superb specimen, good extremely fine, very rare thus Estimate £2,500-3,000 provenance
