George III, Shilling, 6.00g., 1763, "Northumberland" type, young laureate and draped bust facing right, georgivs.iii dei.gratia., toothed border both sides, rev. inverted die axis, crowned cruciform shields, Garter Star at centre, eight strings to Irish harp, date either side of crown above halved English and Scottish shield, .m.b.f.et. h.rex.f.d.b. et.l.d.s.r.i. a.t.et.e., edge, diagonally milled (ESC 1214; S.3742), attractively toned, a pleasing extremely fine, scarce Estimate £500-600 £100 worth of this issue was distributed in Dublin by the Earl of Northumberland, on his appointment as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland.
