†Overprinted for use in Gibraltar The first issue of Gibraltar, which appeared on January 1st 1886, was made from Bermuda plates overprinted "gibraltar" 1/2d. to 1/- set of seven in blocks of four, all but the 21/2d. and 1/- marginl or from the corner of the sheet with plate numbers, fresh mint though one in each of the 4d., 6d. and 1/- with part original gum; one 21/2d. with small fox mark on gum and the 6d. with thin in margin over plate number, otherwise fine. Very rare with only three sets believed to exist in blocks of four. Sc. 1-7; S.G. 1-7, £3,600+. Photo Estimate £ 1,200-1,500 provenance: Duveen
