Colonel James Arbuthnot Tyler, C.B., C.M.G. born 15.10.1867; Commissioned 1886; took part in operations in Natal including actions at Talana and Lombard's Kop (M.I.D. 19.6.1900 and 9.11.1900; Brevet of Major); served in France and Belgium 1914-18 (M.I.D. eight times; Brevet of Colonel); retired as Hon. Brigadier 21.4.1919
