Distinguished Flying Cross, reverse dated 1944; 1939-1945 Star; Air Crew Europe Star, with France and Germany bar; War Medal; General Service 1918-62, E.II.R., one clasp, Cyprus (Sqn. Ldr. G.K. King. R.A.F.), good very fine (5)

D.F.C. London Gazette 15.9.1944. 133708 Flying Officer G.K. King 51 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
The Recommendation states: 'This Officer has completed 36 sorties against the enemy and he has taken part in attacks on some of the most heavily-defended targets in Germany includung Berlin, Hanover, Mannheim and Frankfurt. In face of enemy opposition he maintains extreme coolness and confidence and presses home his attacks with precision. He shows great keeness to operate against the enemy, which he does with aggressiveness, cheerfulness and enthusisam which single him out among other members of the Squadron.
He is a valuable member of a crew and support to his Captain, particulary in face of danger, also he shows great enthusiasm in his duties on the ground, in which he works hard. As Deputy Bombing Leader he has displayed organising ability which has made of him of great assistance to his Leader and Squadron Commander.'
Squadron Leader George keith King D.F.C., commissioned 6.11.1942; Flight Lieutenant 6.5.1943; Squadron Leader 1.7.1954; retired 1961 and died 1973.
