†Pamphylia, Aspendos (c. 420-370 B.C.), AR Stater, 10.92g., two naked wrestlers grappling with each other, FN between them, EËYÖA MENETYØ in exergue, rev. EØTFEÄIIYØ, slinger standing right, braced to fire sling-shot, triskeles on right, all within dotted linear rectangle (SNG France 3, 96 obv. die; cf. Hill, NC 1920, p. 115, pl. XIV, 13 and SNG Von Aulock 4569), dies rather worn, the coin itself with very little, if any wear, so, good fine to extremely fine, rare Estimate £ 70-100 The obverse legend is thought to be the names of the two wrestlers. This is the only Aspendos issue with an obverse legend, and is known from only two dies, the other one of which reverses the order of the names and is less rare.
