SALVTI AVGVSTI, Salus standing right, feeding snake held in her arms, (RIC 77 var.; RSC 68 var.), porous surface, very fine, very rare Estimate £ 300-400 Of all the denarii issued by Niger, only one, RIC 47, with the reverse IVSTITIA AVGVSTA, has an obverse bust of any type and this is identical with an aureus of the same type (RIC 48). All other specimens with this obverse are aurei and it may be assumed that this denarius is a striking of an unpublished aureus.
