Ireland 1840 (2 Jan.) printed Scottish Widows Life Assurance proposal form from Edinburgh to Ireland, address panel with manuscript "4", Edinburgh and Dublin datestamps of 2 and 4 January, then turned and sent back to Edinburgh, the address panel with superb strike of a large black "4", the reverse with black "rosscarbery", Dublin and Edinburgh datestamps of 8 and 10 January (first day of Uniform Penny Postage), alongside; very fine and attractive, opening-out perfectly for display. An extraordinary item, the handstruck "4" of Rosscarbery being the only recorded example. Photo Estimate £ 1,200-1,500
