POSTAL HISTORY England, Scotland and Wales 1686 (8 Oct.) entire letter from Carlisle to London, addressed to "Honrble. Christ. Musgrave", showing very fine strike of the small black Inspector's Crown handstamp, the manuscript rate "6" crossed through and signed "Charlton" by the Inspector to confirm the free status of the letter, the reverse with "NO/12" Bishop Mark; fine and an outstanding example of this rare mark.
