PERFORATED LINE-ENGRAVED 1864-79 1d. plate 225, MG, on envelope to Edinburgh dated 23 December 1879, tied by very fine "498" numeral of Manchester and additionally tied by London double-ring c.d.s., the reverse with Edinburgh arrival datestamps; the envelope creased at top but does not appear to cross the adhesive (the crease presumably occured before the adhesive was applied), address panel with filing note at left. Fine and a most unusual route: Manchester-London-Edinburgh. (WF). Photo Estimate £ 300-350
