POSTAL HISTORY England, Scotland and Wales 1771 (4 Nov.) entire letter written from "New Inn" to the Leathersellers Hall, the address panel with the only recorded example of the black "wl" in circle (Window Letter marking - indicating a letter used within London but wrongly posted in the General Post), the reverse with Bishop Marks for 4 and 5 November, circular "o'clock/9/g" timestamp and faint "c(?) m" Receiver's handstamp; address panel toned at left (clear of the strike), the reverse torn through and re-attached though otherwise fine.
