George III, Restrike Pattern Penny, 1797, by W J Taylor after Kuchler, struck in bronzed copper on a thin flan, large undraped bust facing right, wreath of 10 leaves and 5 berries, tie ribands at rear with long hair of a recut style, faint K.: recut on squarer shoulder, cheek flaw polished away, within broad raised rim with small incuse legend, georgius iii . d : g . rex. rev.struck en medaille Britannia seated to left on globe, some extra drapery, trident in right hand, left hand on top of recut shield holding olive branch, K recut and raised below shield, space between globe and shield with horizontal lines, plain helmet plume, ship sailing to left with 2 minute gunports, date in exergue within broad raised rim with large incuse legend, two olive branches tied with looped riband, soho. incuse, flaws absent from reverse, britannia (Peck 1144A R55 VR), a few tiny spots and digs on reverse, good extremely fine and very rare Estimate £ 400-500 Croydon Coin Auction, 18 February 1997, lot 139
