Henry IV (1399-1413), light coinage, Noble, 6.85g., type IIb, king standing facing in ship, holding sword and shield, lis on rudder, annulet and slipped trefoil on side of ship, henric dei gra rex angl z franc d hib aq, rev. floriated cross with lis at ends, pellet and h in centre, slipped trefoil in third quarter, annulet/double saltire stops, m.m. cross pattée on rev. only (Blunt, heavy coinage II (same obv. die); Schneider 198 (same obv. die); N.1355: S.1715), struck from a worn obverse die, some light scrapes and spademarks, otherwise good fine, extremely rare Estimate £ 1,500-2,000 provenance: Pulham Hoard, Christie's, 28 May 1985, lot 6 This interesting piece is struck from an altered heavy coinage obverse die, with an annulet added on the side of the ship (c.f. Schneider 197-8). There are seven recorded specimens of which three are in the British Museum collection.
