Britannia seated right on rocks with shield and trident, date below in exergue, H to upper left, ripples above second exergue wave, one penny (Fr. 186, dies 2+B; Peck 2256; Gouby H; S.4052), weak strike especially on obverse, with some lustre, toned, uncirculated and rare Estimate £ 200-300 There was in 1920 an urban myth that some gold had been accidentally spilt into the bronze being annealed for the coinage, hence the streaky nature of some of the bronze in circulation like the poor specimen offered in this lot.
