This group refers to a range of large format, handmade papers with watermarks, produced mainly at Hayle Mill for use in banking and other security sensitive applications. Most of the production was carried out in house, allowing the mill to closely control quality and consistency, which were essential for financial use. Alongside supplying paper for bank documentation, the mill also produced watermarked papers for financial instruments such as shares and bonds, often incorporating detailed designs or company names into the sheet to help prevent forgery and confirm authenticity. Some sheets were supplied directly to banks, while others were distributed through printers such as De La Rue or through commercial intermediaries, reflecting the different stages of production and printing involved. When demand exceeded capacity, the mill occasionally worked with other makers to meet orders.
