Aberdeen Commercial Banking Company, Scotland, proof £5, 17th September 1847, serial number 18/147,

A highly important proof for this Aberdeen issuer and an unrecorded denomination in Paper Money of Scotland. A later owner has attempted to complete the date panel with “17 September 1847,” notably long after the bank ceased trading in 1833. The serial number and imitation manager’s signature were applied at a later date, suggesting an effort to legitimise the note around that time.
