Edward I (1272–1307), 'Longcross' Pennies, 1289–1291, Canterbury (2), Transitional Class 4e-5a, + EDW R' ANGL' DNS hyB, taller lettering, normal-barred Ns, serpentine S with expansive serifs, crowned bust facing, rev. CIVITAS CANTOR, pellet before TOR, normal-barred Ns, egg-waisted S, long cross and trio of pellets in angles, 1.027g [15.85grns], 7h, i.m. cross pattée (Site Reference [L4.003.C4.8]; North 1027-1028; Spink 1419 [1398-1399]), clipped and with extraction scuffs, otherwise flat below portrait, but struck details fine, an intriguing example; additionally, Class 5a, Canterbury, + EDW R' ANGL' DNS hyB, + EDW R' ANGL' DNS hyB, normal-barred Ns, serpentine S, pronounced comma-shaped contraction marks, crowned bust facing, pellet on breast, rev. CIVITAS CANTOR, long cross and trio of pellets in angles, 1.328g [20.49grns], 1h, i.m. cross pattée (Site Reference [L2.D3.2]; North 1028; Spink 1419 [1399]), flan split and crimped, otherwise of a fuller flan, good to fair but a very rare class for this mint (2)
