1840-42 a trio with 1840 (23 Oct.) entire letter to Leeds, marked "paid" in black ink, struck by red Maltese Cross has been applied over a small glue stain (where the stamp was removed or became detached) to indicate postage paid, the flap with Tonbridge Wells despatch and London transit c.d.s.; 1841 (8 Sept.) wrapper to Pontefract and redirected to London, with Doncaster despatch c.d.s. in the top right corner over the postmaster's note, "label washed off", Pontefract forwarding c.d.s. in the left corner with large manuscript "P1" in red crayon and London Paid arrival with R.P.S. Certificate (2006); and 1842 (19 Dec.) wrapper to Edinburgh, a black Maltese Cross has been applied over the spot where and adhesive stamp had been, the flap with Banff and Edinburgh datestamps. With Brandon Certificate (2003) but some doubts must be expressed about this cover which is offered on its merits. All with filing folds otherwise fine and a rare trio.
