Town Cancellations: Clitheroe; 1856 (7 July) folded broadsheet advertising auction sale of buildings and land in Clitheroe bearing 1d. red-brown, perf.14, plate 31, BG (S.G. 29) tied by a good strike of Clitheroe open top c.d.s. and a sent to Blackburn by "Book Post"; in a very good state of preservation. Also 1842 (2 Mar.) entire to Skipton bearing 1841 1d. (good to large margins) cancelled by a neat strike of black Maltese Cross with open-top Clitheroe c.d.s. alongside. (2 covers)
