Durazzo
1872 (1 March). Cover from Durazzo (Durrës) to Corfu, franked with Austrian Levant 1867 10s. blue, tied by "durazzo” thimble c.d.s. in blue (Tchilinghirian & Stephen type 3), delivered on 26 June 1872 to the Austrian Lloyd post office in Durazzo and in use until the late 1870s. The 10s. was insufficient to cover the 20 soldi rate for a foreign destination, and it was charged on arrival with “20” lepta in blue crayon, paid with Greece “Rologakia” 20l. (Michel 106), tied by the “106” dotted lozenge on arrival. The only known cover from Albania in combination with this Greek issue, and additionally used in the first month of its circulation.
