1849. Accompanying declaration (“Jurnal”) No. 16 of a letter from Filibe (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) to Shkodër (Iskodra) via Skopje (Uskub), rated at 3½ piastres, bearing the Arabic negative handstamp "An-Canib Posta-i Iskodra 265” (“on behalf of the Shkodër Post Office in the year 1265 of the Hegira”) in black (Coles & Walker, fig. 1), and the negative seal of Plovdiv on dispatch (Coles & Walker, fig. 16). The letter was carried over five days by mounted messengers, the so-called “Tatars.” Rare.
