A small group all with three-bar ink Railway cancellations (7) comprising two envelopes, a postcard and four Natal 1d. dull rose stamps; scarce
Note:
From December 1885, in areas where the population did not warrant the opening of a post office, letters could be handed to station masters for onward transmission. Station masters were to ensure letters were sufficiently stamped, and in the absence of a cancelling aperatus, were to deface each stamp by placing three bars in black ink across the face of the stamp.
