George Denson was born in Sunderland in December 1894 and during the Great War served in France from 20 September 1915. Returned home, he became involved in politics and stood as the Conservative Member for Blaydon in the 1923 and 1924 elections. He was in charge of promoting the Conservative push in Darlington and Chester-le-Street in the 1929 General Election and became the appointed Agent in 1930.
