Central Africa 1891-98, silver, 1 clasp, Central Africa 1894-98 (40 Pte Kawonde. B.C.A. Rifles.), some light contact marks, otherwise very fine

Kawonde is confirmed on the roll for the medal and clasp serving with B Company of the 1st Battalion, King's African Rifles and was noted as serving at Zomba on 18 August 1902 (date of the medal roll), his rank recorded as Lance Corporal. He also appears on the medal roll for an Africa General Service 1902-56 with clasp B.C.A. 1899-1900, and on this roll he again appears as a Lance Corporal.

A total of 629 medals were awarded to the 1st British Central Africa Rifles and Kawonde was one of 619 members of the same unit that received the Africa General Service medal; sold with copied medal roll entries.
