Auction: 25888 - The Jeffrey Wong Collection of World Banknotes - Part I
Lot: 2
(x) Bahamas Monetary Authority, $100, 1968, serial number A378771,
This note is the highest denomination in the 1968 issues, the last issues of the Bahamas Monetary Authority before the Central Bank of the Bahamas was established in 1974. Boasting a strong royal blue, the design features the portrait of late Queen Elizabeth II wearing the state diadem of George IV on the left of the obverse. The reverse design shows an illustration of a blue marlin jumping above the surface of the sea, and a deep-sea fishing boat in the background. The motif of a blue marlin fish continued to be used in later issues of $100.
