A rare poster in excellent condition, conservation linen backed and ready for framing.

1977 saw the birth of the epic space opera: Star Wars, a film written and directed by George Lucas, produced by Lucasfilm Ltd and released by Twentieth Century-Fox. It is the first film in the Star Wars franchise which continues to this day, and one of the defining films of the 1970s.

George Lucas commissioned Tom Chantrell to design this British poster, which is generally preferred by collectors to the American posters. This version is particularly scarce because soon after the poster was produced, the film was nominated for 7 Academy Awards - and a new design highlighting the nominations replaced this version.
