1887 BEFORE AND AFTER THE STAMP COMMITTEE PRESENTATION BOOK



A complete "Before And After The Stamp Committee" presentation book prepared by security printers, De La Rue. Comprising three pages; the first with comb perf. stamps overprinted "specimen" type 9. The 6d. is plate 18, DL; 9d. plate 4, EB and 1/- orange plate 13, MG.
Each sunk mounted on the special thick board pages.
Some wear to binding as to be expected, but it is exceptionally rare to find these presentation books intact.

The Stamp Committee were established in order to agree upon new designs for British postage stamps. Coloured papers had improved the security and attraction of stamps, but it was felt that entirely new designs were needed. To commemorate the introduction of the new stamps 36 books were produced by De La Rue for officials who had been connected with the project.
