'PAXS' TYPE PENNY OF WILLIAM THE CONQUEROR, THOUGHT TO BE FROM THE BEAUWORTH HOARD (1833)

Slightly off-struck, otherwise a beautiful and uniform example, of exceptional metal, truly choice FDC, extremely rare thus, with only five specimens known to this cataloguer, three of which are publicly held; this coin an adjacent striking to the sole-recorded Beauworth (1833) specimen now in the National collection; and thus unquestionably from the same source, in NGC holder graded AU58 (Cert. #8536727-001).
