[27 notes] Prif Trysorfa Cymru Ltd, Wales, mixed denomination private promissory issues and specimens, 1969-72,
a group of issued notes and specimens printed by Prif Trysorfa Cymru Ltd ("Chief Treasury of Wales Ltd"), a venture established by Welsh banker Richard Williams in response to debate surrounding the founding of a National Welsh Bank. Williams was subject to some scrutiny by the Inland revenue over subjects such as permitted denominations, the use of the Prince of Wales coat of arms, and, especially, the use of the word "treasury" in the company name, hence many of the notes here were issued under its later name, Cwmni y Ddafad Ddu Gymreig Cyfyngedig ("Welsh Black Sheep Company Limited"). Despite some positive reception and publicity, by 1972, Williams had stopped producing notes and was declared bankrupt in 1978.
a charming and intriguing collection of notes, good very fine to extremely fine, some about uncirculated, many with duty stamps and cancellations issued by Inland Revenue
