Spain (18-19th Century), A Selection of Fractional Gold Specie (7), Philip V, Second Reign (1724-1746), 1/2-Escudo, 1744 PSJ, Seville, second cuirassed bust right, rev. crowned shield, edge obliquely milled, 1.76g, 12h (AC 1649), softness to portrait, otherwise toned, near very fine; another, Ferdinand VI (1746-1759), 1/2-Escudo, 1753 PSJ, Seville, similar, no cuirass, 1.75g, 11h (AC 576), lightly toned, good fine; others, Charles III (1759-1788), 1/2-Escudos, Madrid (2), 1762 JP, laureate head right, otherwise as before, 1.77g, 12h (AC 1245; Calicó 755), small contact mark by R of CAROLVS, otherwise lustrous, with a hint of cabinet tone, a pleasing very fine; and, 1764 JP, as last, 1.80g, 11h (AC 1247), some historic marks and modern scuffs, otherwise toned, a bolder very fine; also, Gold Escudo, 1788 DV, Madrid, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. crowned shield in Garter of the Order of the Golden Fleece, edge obliquely milled, 3.35g, 12h (AC 1371), rim bruised at 12 o'clock, the surfaces wiped and with resultant hairlines, otherwise residually lustrous, strictly fine; another, 1/2-Escudo, 1779 PJ, Madrid, bust as last, 1.77g, 12h (AC 1269), lustrous, good fine / almost very fine; lastly, Fernando VII (1808-1833), 1/2-Escudo, 1817 GJ, Madrid, laureate head right, edge obliquely milled, 1.75g, 12h (AC 1486), slight bend to flan, otherwise lustrous, a pleasing very fine (7)
