George I (1714-1727), Half-Guinea, 1722, first laureate bust right, rev. crowned shields cruciform, emblem-adorned sceptres in angles, five strings to harp, edge obliquely milled, 4.04g, 5h (S.3635), small test mark to reverse edge at 4 o'clock, and subtle crimping to flan, otherwise light friction marks in evenly circulated fields, the portrait fair, the peripheries and reverse bolder than fine, the date very rare; additionally, Quarter-Guinea, 1718, laureate head right, rev. as before, edge obliquely milled, 2.05g, 6h (MCE 277; Schneider II, 554; EGC 550; S.3638), W-W engraved fore and aft of portrait with some deep scratches at attempted removal, otherwise of honest appearance, struck details a really bold fine, the type experiencing a market renaissance of late (2)
