Peter Edward White born at London, England on 15 November 1929 and enlisted in the Royal Sussex Regiment on 15 January 1948. He served in Northern Ireland, Egypt and Greece before being discharged on 11 December 1949. He subsequently enlisted in the Australian Regular Army at London on 14 November 1950 and was initially posted to the 2nd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment before transferring to the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment serving in Korea from August 1951 until June 1954.

Further operational postings included Malaya and Borneo, South Vietnam from April 1967 until January 1971. He was next posted to 22nd Royal Victorian Regiment and 8 Royal Australian Regiment at Enoggera and discharged at Sydney on 14 November 1977; sold together with a comprehensive folder of research including his copied service papers and a pair of Royal Australian Infantry shoulder titles.
